Hiroujinja Shrine in Kumano area, Wakayama Prefecture is an auxiliary shrine dedicated to a deity closed related to that of Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine. Enshrined deity is Ookuninushi-no-kami who is considered as a creator of Japan.
Nachi big fall itself is the object of worship and believed to contain the spirit of the deity. Therefore, there is no main shrine building and no worship hall in this shrine. People directly worship to the Nachi big fall.
There is a legend that if people touch spray from the fall and/or drink water from the basin of the fall, they can get miraculous virtue of longevity.
