There are tree major cherry trees in Japan which have lived longer than a thousand years. Three major cherry trees are,

  • Miharu Takizakura in Miharu, Fukushima Prefecture in the photo
  • Yamataka Jindaizakura in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture
  • Neodani Usuzumizakura in Motosu City, Gifu Prefecture

Those trees were nationally designated as natural monuments on 12th of October, 1922 and people recognize those cherry trees as the most valuable cherry trees in Japan.
