Therefore, you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding in north part of Japan in winter season and enjoy swimming in summer season. The distance from Soya Cape in Hokkaido to Okinotorishima Island, the southernmost in Japan is about 2,800km. The distance from Minamitorishima Island, the easternmost in Japan, to Yonagunishima Island, the westernmost in Japan, is about 3,100km. As a reference, the distance from the west coast of the U.S. to the east coast of the U.S. is about 5,000km.
